Local historic towns worth a visit include: Urueña, a walled town with interesting museums run by the foundation Joaquín Díaz; Peñaflor de Hornija has spectacular sunsets; Medina de Rioseco, where you can take a delightful boat trip up the canal of Castille; Villalba de los Alcores with its castle and Roman churches; the monastery of Matallana and the tourist info centre at Mota del Marqués Castillo de Montealegre; Roman ruins of a church at Terceruelo. Wine routes round Toro. |
