La Casona de Villanueva is a charming guesthouse, situated in the east of Asturias. It is an ideal place for water sports, trekking, riding or cultural activities. The casona has 300 years of history within its walls and antique furniture, which makes it a very special place to stay. The garden has tropical plants from South America, Australia and Africa: fruit trees and majestic rosebushes which make a lovely setting for having breakfast, reading a good book, having a drink or simply listening to birdsong (from spring 2007 there will also be a small swimming pool).
The food includes original recipes handed down by previous generations and is typical of the North of Spain. The specialities of the house are churrie peppers, stews, fresh fish and seafood. This year other dishes featured on the menu are top quality Argentinian beef and lamb. The desserts are simply delicious cream & fudge pudding, rice pudding and exotic fruits including figs, kumcuats, oranges, pears and pumpkin.
All of the rooms (6 twins/doubles and 2 suites) have the following faclilities: TV (optional) and wireless internet access ( wi fi). They are very confortable, light and airy and overlook the beatiful green Asturian countryside.
