Summary
Villa Nolano is situated 5 minutes behind the town of Motril with views to the Mediterranean Sea. The house is not overlooked by other properties offering total privacy. Once inside the private gates, you are in your own world. Glimpse the Mediterranean through the soaring sugar cane and flowering shrubs that surround the lush lawn and pool area of this oasis just outside Motril. With space to comfortably accommodate up to six people, Villa Nolano is a fantastic getaway for families wanting some fun in the sun. Parents will appreciate the secured fencing that separates the pool area from the house. Indeed, several features of the property are designed for maximum convenience. There is a WC with basin and loo on the ground floor, nicely situated for kids; the unique glass-paned arch in the kitchen is perfect for keeping an eye on the little ones as they play on the front terrace; it is also useful for passing plates through to those dining alfresco. The large fully tiled swimming pool is set in the lawned garden amid flower beds and palm trees; it features mosaic steps at one end and a patio sunbathing area around the perimeter. Security gates help keep wandering toddlers at bay. Thoughtfully placed night lighting means the grounds can be enjoyed around the clock. An Andalucian-tiled, rose-filled patio wraps around three sides of this traditional home. A few steps from the kitchen lead to a built brick barbecue. The barbecue is next to a large country room. This room was traditionally the "Men's Kitchen," and was where they would gather and roast meats or hang sausages to dry as they passed the afternoon. A very large fireplace dominates the room, and casual table and chairs complete the rustic scene. In the main house the large, sunny eat-in kitchen affords all the amenities, from full-sized fridge/freezer to a quality heavy juicer and espresso maker. Smartly done up in sparkling charcoal granite with contrasting cream colored cabinets, it offers plenty of work and storage space. The wide Spanish-tiled kitchen window sill looks over the patio and barbecue area, which is conveniently accessed from the kitchen through a side door. The comfortable sitting room has plenty of space and is well equipped with CD and DVD players, free-to-air English speaking satellite channels and Spanish TV reception, books and games. A working open fireplace adds the perfect cosy touch after a day of skiing, or for taking the chill off of the cooler evenings. A spiral marble staircase leads from the ground level to the bedrooms and main bathroom on the sunny first floor. The full-sized modern bathroom has ample storage space, wide granite countertop, a large mirror over the sink, shower over bath, bidet and loo. Sunshine streams into the good-sized bedrooms (one double, two twins), all of which are fitted in charming country furnishings. The bedrooms and bathroom all open onto a generous landing that is dotted with antique furniture. More stairs lead to the second floor roof terrace, from where one gets sweeping views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the countryside and the sea. Villa Nolano is a five-minute drive from Motril, the largest town on the Costa Tropical de Granada. Here you have access to modern grocery stores, hundreds of authentic eateries and excellent shopping from luxurious to bargain. The fresh food market is open every day except Sunday, and the rastro-style mercadillo comes to town every Tuesday and Friday. This is all five minutes from your holiday home. A car is essential. Activities abound nearby. Many of our guests have enjoyed horseback riding, offered by a reliable outfit quite close to the villa. Others prefer hiking along many of the suggested routes in the area. Everyone can appreciate Granada, rich in culture and history and undoubtedly the jewel of the province. A mere 50 minutes from the property, home of the famous Alhambra Palace, this gorgeous capital is a must-see. Shopping, culture, history, fiestas, plazas, restaurants, nightlife...Granada has it all. It also is home to the Parque de Ciencias, a new hands-on science museum, which is a joy for visitors of all ages. Between Villa Nolano and Granada lie the charming Lecrin Valley and Alpujarras villages. Countless pueblos selling traditional crafts and offering mouth-watering hearty fare await your exploration, most within an hour's drive from this villa. Or spend a day wandering the seaside. Lively Nerja, ever popular with tourists, is half an hour down the coast (those homesick for a Guiness or a curry will find themselves mollified!) Closer by, Almunecar and Salobrena are sizable traditional Mediterranean villages, both well worth a visit.
