This attractive recently restored holiday house is located in one of the most picturesque streets of the Moorish old town of the village of Canillas de Albaida. It's in an area of narrow, winding streets with houses built in the traditional style of Axarquía district. This district is made up of villages nestling on a hillside where they are protected from extreme weather and look out over the sea and benefit from a refreshing summer breeze. The house is easy to get to, as it's at the bottom of the street and close to a small square where you can park.
The accommodation on two floors is spacious (110 m2), comfortable and airy, the rustic decor is simple and tasteful. There's a longe/dining room with open fire that opens onto the kitchen. There's also a bedroom downstairs. The other two bedrooms are upstairs. There's also a completely private sun terrace. Canillas de Albaida is located within the Sierra Almijara wildlife reserve, a very beautiful nature park which offers many sightseeing opportunities and the possibility of various outdoor activities: walking, off-roading, etc. More challenging walks are on offer in the mounatins of La Maroma (2.068m), La Atalaya (1.256m) and Pico Verde (1.326m), the last two are in the district of Canillas. It's on the route of the 'white villages' (pueblos blancos). The park borders the nearby lovely village of Competa (4km), famous for the hospitality of its inhabitants and its delicious Moscatel wine, whilst the sandy beaches of the coast are only 18km away! For those who would like a refreshing dip on these hot summer days without having to drive to the coast, there is a communal pool just 100m from the property.

A car is essential and can be picked up at the airport. Five mins by car is the new Court Englaise, English style shopping centre with a good Spanish shopping centre only 10 mins away. The local Water Park ensures fun for all the family and the local beaches are excellent. There are two golf courses within walking distance which makes this an ideal base for golfers as well as families. The famous Byblos hotel is 5 mins walk away and an excellent place for pre-dinner drinks around the pool with nightly entertainment, or a coffee and night cap on the way home. It has a taxi stand outside so no worries about driving home at the end of a night out. This hotel also has tennis courts and a gym for the energetic.
It overlooks the Los Lagos golf course and has wonderful views over the La Cala Hills. Gibraltar is 90 mins by car and the there is lots to do and see in the area. Marbella Old Town and Puerto Banus are well worth a visit. There are many restaurants in the immediate area. Mijas Pueblo is 15 mins by car and is a stunning example of a typical Spanish white village in the hills and has dramatic views from the cliff top restaurant. From it’s commanding position on the top of a hill this recently constructed holiday house (finished in 2006) has marvellous views over a spectacular landscape with the blue sea as a backdrop (on clear days you can see the coast of Africa). The 360º panorama from the house offers us a charming vision of little houses and rural properties dotted over the patchworked countryside full of light. Nightime brings it’s own unusual spectacle as the coast below lights up with the fishing boats coming to port each with their own lantern showing the way home below a dome of millions of stars. The swimming pool which is on a large terrace is a great spot to take in these surroundings as is the covered porch and the barbecue area. Inside, the house is decorated in rustic style with a large lounge and well equipped kichen and close to these two large bedrooms all perfectly prepared for cold or hot weather, although here we would hardly notice it.
This area was originally planted with fruit trees on terraces by the Phoenicians and this is still in evidence today as is the passing of the Romans through the area – an important Roman Road passes close by (Via Antonino which ran from Malaga to Almuñecar), of which a branch went from Sayalonga to Granada crossing the Regional Park of the Sierras Tejeda and Almijara, and part of which is still intact today. There are many signs of the 900 years of Moorish presence in the narrow streeted villages of the area, the variety of crops they introduced, the watering systems and most of all the important monuments, most outstanding being the perfectly conserved,12th century Arab Minaret in the village of Corumbela.
From this spot we can visit the “White Villages” of Malaga’s Axarquia (Arches, Frigiliana, Competa, Sayalonga, Canillas de Albaida...) and the Mudejar Route which passes through them. In Cómpeta the wine cellars make an interesting visit. The tourist town of Nerja with it’s Caves and Gruta of the Maravillas is only 20km away and at the same distance there is golf in Torredelmar. The house is located 2-3km from the village of Sayalonga and approx. 12km from the beaches at Torrox.

This cosy Andalusian cottage is up in the hills of Torrox in Malaga and offers spectacular views of the lively town of Nerja and it's beaches, the cliffs of Maro and the Sierra de Almijara mountains which form a part of the Tejeda and Almijara Natural Park with the picturesque whitewashed village of Frigiliana nestled in the foothills. A short hike around the premises offer a feast for our eyes with the beautiful sea and mountain landscapes. When the afternoon fades the scenery changes and we can see the coastal villages with their numerous points of light as well as the twinkling of the lights from the country houses that dot the hillsides.
The cottage is located in a 3,400 square metre estate that includes olive and avocado groves. There is a flowery terrace shaded by leafy grape vines with a refreshing breeze in summer and decorated with potted plants where one can sit back and relax with a cool drink while enjoying the views of the Mediterranean coast. The cottage itself is simple but cosy with a comfortable lounge complete with fireplace for the winter months. There is a lovely little playground for children in the exterior.
There are an abundance of hiking trails throughout the Natural Park and many interesting sights to see close by such as; the village of Torrox (4kms.), the village of Frigiliana (5kms.), Mediterranean beaches (8kms.) and a golf course just 15 kms. away as well as a swimming pool (4kms.) and tennis courts (4kms.).

This holiday house is a traditional design and is ideally located on a large estate (550m2), just a short walk from Frigiliana (600-700m) and 4km from its beaches and Nerja. The house has wonderful views over this white village of the Malaga Axarquía; you also have views of the sea and the regional park mountain ranges of the Sierras de Tejeda and Almijara. There is a fabulous terrace which is partly shaded by trees, but also has an area of garden and borders. Here or in the shade of the patio terrace you can eat al fresco or just relax with a cool drink. At the back of the house there's a barbecue area. The inside of the house is simple but comfortable. The kitchen is a country kitchen that opens out onto the living/dining room with an open fire; there are two bedrooms and a bathroom. Next to the house is the start of a country footpath only used by the owners of the house and the neighbouring houses and orchards. It's a lovely walk along this path, which takes you near avocado plantations and other lovely sights. The village of Frigiliana has some great places to eat or have tapas in and you can learn all about its history through the pretty mosaics which are to be found around the village. If you like music, you'll be delighted by the jazz groups or the flamenco fiestas that are always on in squares or venues at fiesta time. The town of Nerja is bustly and more touristy and is world-famous for its caves which have been declared national heritage.

This holiday villa with a swimming pool is placed in a delightful vantage point on top of a hill, planted with avocado trees, giving it both the luxury of perfect privacy and splendid views over the beautiful countryside which surrounds it, and the sparkling Mediterranean sea below. Close to the holiday town of Torrox (4km.) and only a few minutes drive (8km.) from the lovely beaches of the Costa del Sol. The holiday house has three terraces; one at the swimming pool level, one covered porch at the first floor level, and one solarium for sunbathing on the top floor. All three have great views over spectacular countryside of great beauty, giving an idea of the peace and tranquillity that this spot offers. Going up the stairs from the swimming pool level, or a few stairs from the main entrance at the other side of the villa, we come to the covered porch level and the large open plan living – dining area, with the kitchen. The lounge is organized for relaxing, in several areas with sofas and chairs grouped around the central fireplace. It is very comfortable space decorated with good quality furniture. The three double bedrooms are spacious and well lit and are on the same floor together with the bathroom.

The villa is set in olive groves and you can see in the distance the regional park Parque Natural del Torcal. You can make out the tall block of limestone rock which is the 'Torcal'. The villa and pool offer a wonderful view of olive groves dotted with white houses, comfort, silence and relaxation away from residential or tourist areas. However, you're only 10km from Antequera, a historic town set in the physical centre of Andalucia, and 40km from Malaga's coast and beaches. Inside there's an open fire, which is very cosy in winter. The furniture is the local rustic style, comfortable and the villa is well equipped with a fully fitted kitchen, which opens onto the living room. One of the double rooms is ensuite (there are three bedrooms in total). The covered bbq terrace next to the pool is ideal for long summer nights.
The owner, Maria Dolores, can provide lots of suggestions for local things to do and see and you're also welcome to walk in the grounds and olive groves. There are plenty of opportunities for open air activities: renting bikes, horse riding with a guide through extraordinary scenery, walks in the regional park, (visit to the tourist centre where they can tell you all about the flora and fauna, rock formations, bird watching, etc.), climbing with a guide, visits to the beautiful and hisotric city of Antequera. There is easy access by motorway to Córdoba, Granada and Sevilla (Córdoba is motorway not quite all the way yet), and Málaga only 40 Km.away where you can enjoy the beaches, the Picasso museum (Casa-Museo Picasso) and other delights the city has to offer.

On the slopes of the Sierra del Torcal within the regional park of the same name and only 20 minutes from the beach, is this wonderful villa with swimming pool. It's set on a private finca (6.000m2) and fenced all the way round the perimeter. In front of the villa is a grassy area and space for parking cars. The swimming pool is situated at the highest point and has grass all round it. There's a large eating area and a barbecue - great places to relax and eat and drink with friends or family. The villa is newly built and all the accommodation is on one floor. The living / dining room has wooden beams and is furnished with high quality rustic furntiture. The kitchen is a separate room and has an adjoining terrace. The bedrooms are very comfortable. Its central heating system makes it an excellent option for winter breaks too. Nearby there are lots of walks through the Torcal and plenty of geological features to provide interest and a sense of history. Nature lovers will love the reservoir El Chorro, the source of the river Villa and the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, where multitudes of flamingos congregate. In just over an hour by car, you're in the historic cities of Granada, Córdoba and Sevilla. But if you want to stay put, there are still interesting places to visit nearby: Museo Arqueológico in Antequera, fiestas in Villanueva de La Concepción (6km) in the last week of July, or sampling goat's cheese in the nearby village of la Higuera (800m) - just a stroll away.
