The swimming pool is open between the beginning of June and end of September annually from 9 am to 9pm. The apartment´s upper terrace has sunbathing and dining areas and there are sun umbrellas for shade. From the sitting room is the second terrace with views over the town and coastline. The accommodation includes one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, fully fitted kitchen and large bathroom with bath/shower. The spacious sitting/dining room has satellite TV (free to air channels), DVD, CD player. Although a car is recommended to get the most out of your holiday it is not essential. Buses run from Malaga, Granada, and Almeria to the bus station in Salobrena and a local bus service will take you up to the end of our street in the old town and down to the beach. Salobrena is really two towns, the historic “casco antiguo” of traditional white houses and narrow streets winding up to the castle, and the new town of wider streets and shady boulevards below with all the bustle in summer of a lively Spanish holiday resort. It is a sizeable town and local centre with a life of its own independent of tourism so plenty of restaurants and bars stay open even out of season. There is a choice of at least four well stocked supermarkets for food and other basics. A short stroll takes you to the Arab fort and original town square, museum and the church of Our Lady of the Rosary, built on the ruins of the mosque. A wider choice of restaurants and shops is available down in the newer parts of town and along the busy seafront with its sandy beaches - a short walk or even shorter bus ride away. The Alpuharras national park and the Alhambra in Granada are both less than an hour away. Salobrena has excellent beaches and restaurants. The beaches are a short, steep walk downhill, a short drive or simply take the bus which comes on the hour every hour from the top of the road and does a circular route. The beaches are clean and boast a variety of activities from fishing by the famous El Penon restaurant where you can dine with views overlooking the sea in both directions or you may wish simply to sunbathe or do scuba diving/jet skiing further up the 2 km stretch of beaches bordering the Paseo Maritimo. A short 20 minute drive westwards along the coast is Almunecar, a busier resort but with its own castle and historic quarter as well. This is the place to go for nightlife and a slightly livelier sense of pace. The weekly flea market and summer jazz festival are well worth taking in. An even shorter trip along the coast in the other direction brings you to Motril, a sizeable port and with a hypermarket and an extensive array of fashionable shops and boutiques. If you can see yourself enjoying a quiet drink on the terraces with views across the town and coastline, then this could be your ideal spot. We feel this apartment offers a truly different holiday experience and a flavour of the real Spain away from the ravages of mass tourism.

The house is located just a short walk from many excellent bars and restaurants and is a 15 minute walk to the beach. Parking is possible in the nearby streets for those with a car but it should be noted that the hilly streets in the old town may not be suitable for those with walking difficulties. There are bus and taxi services in the town at very reasonable prices. The house offers spacious accommodation to a high standard. The sitting room has satellite TV, DVD and doors leading to the terrace. There are two spacious bedrooms (one double and a twin bedroom) and a large bathroom with full length bath/shower. The house sleeps 4 but it can be rented with Casa Las Palmeras which shares entry through the ground floor patio entrance/BBQ terrace and can therefore sleep a total of 9 people. The Chiringuito bars along the mile long beach offer a variety of refreshments and are exceptionally good value. It is in an ideal location whether you are looking to relax or enjoy the activities that Andalucia has to offer. The Sierra Nevada, Spain's highest mountain range, is a magnificent backdrop to this partly undiscovered area of Spain. The area enjoys a microclimate, subtropical in character, a warm and gentle 18 degrees in winter and an average of 25 degrees in summer. The beaches on the Costa Tropical are unspoiled, there are golf courses in Granada (18 holes) and Los Moriscos golf course (currently 9 holes with the 18 hole course opening approx May 2006) just 3km from Salobrena, by the sea with a restaurant and bar. There is also the Marina at the Port of Motril. In the winter months you can go skiing in the Sierras in the morning and sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon. This is the old Andalucian part of Spain, complete with fiestas, whitewashed villages, Moorish castles and some of the best and least expensive food and wine to be found. The restaurants and tapas bars are very good and the fish is excellent. There is history to be found everywhere, from the Alhambra Palace in Granada (just 50 minutes by car) to the Alpujarras region. The coastal towns of Almeria, Almunecar, Motril and Nerja are also well worth a visit.

A short walk up to this place will reward you with further amazing views across the verdant plain below and graphically illustrate its strategic position. A short 20 minute drive westwards along the coast is Almunecar, a busier resort but with its own castle and historic quarter as well. During the summer months, the position of this apartment will catch the cooler sea breezes and the large communal swimming pool (with children´s pool), open between mid June and mid September, is only a one minute walk from the apartment.
The apartment accommodates 4 people and is on two floors. The first floor has a well equipped and modern kitchen, one bedroom with two individual beds, a house bathroom with bath/shower, a spacious sitting/dining room with double doors opening on to a terrace overlooking the sea. The second floor, accessed via a spiral staircase from the sitting room has a double bedroom, en-suite bathroom with walk-in tiled shower and double doors leading on to a large terrace with sunloungers and more views over the sea.
Although a car is recommended to get the most out of your holiday it is not essential. Buses run from Malaga, Granada, and Almeria to the bus station in Salobrena and a local bus service will take you down to the beach (or a 10 minute walk).
A wider choice of restaurants and shops is available down in the newer parts of town and along the seafront with its sandy beaches. The Alpujarras national park and the Alhambra in Granada are both less than an hour away.
The beaches are clean and boast a variety of activities from fishing by the famous El Penon restaurant where you can dine with views overlooking the sea in both directions or you may wish simply to sunbathe or do scuba diving/jet skiing further up the 2 km stretch of beaches bordering the Paseo Maritimo.

A very large fireplace dominates the room, and casual table and chairs complete the rustic scene. In the main house the large, sunny eat-in kitchen affords all the amenities, from full-sized fridge/freezer to a quality heavy juicer and espresso maker. Smartly done up in sparkling charcoal granite with contrasting cream colored cabinets, it offers plenty of work and storage space. A working open fireplace adds the perfect cosy touch after a day of skiing, or for taking the chill off of the cooler evenings. A spiral marble staircase leads from the ground level to the bedrooms and main bathroom on the sunny first floor. The full-sized modern bathroom has ample storage space, wide granite countertop, a large mirror over the sink, shower over bath, bidet and loo. Sunshine streams into the good-sized bedrooms (one double, two twins), all of which are fitted in charming country furnishings. The bedrooms and bathroom all open onto a generous landing that is dotted with antique furniture. More stairs lead to the second floor roof terrace, from where one gets sweeping views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the countryside and the sea. Villa Nolano is a five-minute drive from Motril, the largest town on the Costa Tropical de Granada. Here you have access to modern grocery stores, hundreds of authentic eateries and excellent shopping from luxurious to bargain. The fresh food market is open every day except Sunday, and the rastro-style mercadillo comes to town every Tuesday and Friday. This is all five minutes from your holiday home. A car is essential. Activities abound nearby. Many of our guests have enjoyed horseback riding, offered by a reliable outfit quite close to the villa. Others prefer hiking along many of the suggested routes in the area. Everyone can appreciate Granada, rich in culture and history and undoubtedly the jewel of the province.
