Owner direct villas, apartments, rural houses casas rurales, farmhouses, cottages ... What the holidaymakers think.
Our holiday properties in Spain, for rent directly from the owner, include farmhouses, villas, apartments, cottages, rural houses casas rurales and village houses in all 17 regions of Spain. Many casas rurales and other Spanish owner direct properties have never before been advertised in the UK. Colours of Spain has developed a unique dual language email system to overcome the language barrier and communicate directly with Spanish speaking property owners (who don't speak English). The testimonials below show what a high standard of holiday accommodation is offered by our Spanish casas rurales, farmhouses and cottages.

La Espadaña in Asturias
Hi Linda
I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had at La Espadana. It is such a beautiful property in very well kept grounds, and the rooms were excellent. Some of the distances might not be strictly accurate, however we also enjoyed exploring the surrounding area, particularly El Puntal and Tazones. I would also strongly recommend the Sunday market at Cangas De Onis and the seafood restaurants at Llastres.Once again, many thanks for your assistance in booking this property, and we will certainly consider Colours Of Spain again.

Hi Linda - we made it safely to the hotel and Enrique was there to
greet us. Room is fab - the place is a lot more fancy than I expected
from the description so that was a great surprise ;) I will send you
the coordinates from our GPS so you can update the site. Thanks so
much again!

Did you say you were thinking of going to Spain for a holiday? I just did that, and I went in winter, too...good time to go to the north of Spain, that is. It's nice up there, even in January...especially if you are from Canada, or New England, or some place that is up to your tush in snow at the time. And there are hardly any pesky tourists around to clog up all the interesting places you can visit. People will think you are German wearing north American clothing and shoes.
But look here, don't go from one big city hotel to another. I know, I know... the attractions in the guide books seem to all be in the big towns... and those are really great to visit, but stay in the countryside. That's what I did. See, there's this really cool web site called coloursofspain. com run by these two cheerful experts in Spanish small hotels and guest houses and whatnot. Linda and Marcie are really helpful. They've been to all these places they recommend. For instance, they sent me to an organic farm, to a three hundred year old guest house on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, to a lovely fishing village and a gorgeous family-run small hotel right at the foot of the mountains in the Picos de Europa district. Every place you go, you will find stuff to do and see every bit as interesting as the list of stuff you dreamed up before you left home, and you can find these gems of over-night stops right on the edges of the big tourist stops, if you want to. Believe me, it's the only way to see Spain. I'll be going back. You can bet on that. Bill from Canada did a solo trip across Northern Spain in winter!
Having just returned from the second holiday booked using your contact service I felt compelled to e-mail you with my compliments on the service you provide the 2 rural houses we have rented have both been exactly what we were looking for and have given 2 of the best and with the help of the budget airlines the cheapest holidays we have ever had. You may be interested to know that whilst waiting on our plane back to from Asturias we were in conversation with 2 other groups of people who after our conversation will be logging on to your site. So once again thank you for your service
Yours Sincerely
AS
The owners of the rural house were very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend it highly to anyone, both the house and the area which was quite stunning within the Aramaio district. We would go back to both places, and use the casas rurales again. They were a good find and very reasonable pricewise. So a great success altogether and thank you for all your help in arranging Untzilla.
Sheila
Hello Linda,
May I first thank you for your efficient service, I have travelled the world over a lifetime organising all our own arrangements. Your service has been equal to the best, and we are delighted so far. David Newham
Testimonial - CAN ABELLA - La Cabanya 21087
My family (my wife and two boys aged 13 and 9) and I stayed at Can Abella at the beginning of July 2009 for eight nights. It was the most picturesque setting being in a tiny village with fields and woods surrounding the villa. The villa itself was in very good condition with loads of spanish character and the ongoing renovations of the attached dwellings will add to that in the future. Doors that opened onto a small yard and a covered patio made for great outdoor living that was only made better by the pool and barbeque area being less than 50m away! The town of Vilert is in a great location which made sightseeing in the area very accessible. Banyoles and Besalu are within 10 minutes drive while Empuries, the coast, Valle de Nuria and Figueres are easy day trips. While the owner, Xavi did not speak much English and I spoke no Spanish we did have some fun trying to communicate in our limited French! However, the Colours of Spain team were very helpful in ensuring that we knew all that we needed to know in order to sign the contract. All in all, Can Abella is a fabulous place to stay while you are exploring the Catalan countryside. It makes for a relaxed holiday after a day of sightseeing and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit and stay in the region. Thank you Xavi for your generosity and to the Colours of Spain team for all of your assistance - you made a good holiday great! Regards
Will BlandDubai, UAEJust returned from a great holiday at Mendiola and Maria and all at Mendiola were marvellous. Could you kindly convey our thanks to all of them for a lovely holiday.
Best regards,
Brian
We've just returned from Casa Pons, near Ainsa in Aragon. This was our first venture through coloursofspain. If we had any "internet holiday" doubts beforehand they were entirely unfounded. We had excellent accommodation (and the owners were extremely helpful) in a wonderful area. Thanks once again for "holding our hands" in all the pre-holiday arrangements.
Gordon and Jean Brown.
Thank you for doing all this, and so promptly. I find your website admirably thought out! The best I've used to date. Best wishes,
Jane
Thanks for all your help. We are very much looking forward to our trip. Incidentally I thought your website was very informative and user friendly.
Thanks again, Helen Brewer
Just a short note to let you know how much we all enjoyed our stay at 'Les Golfes'. It was a lovely location and the facilities were excellent. Please pass on these sentiments and our thanks to Jordi and Noemi.
Regards, Simon
I would like to thank you and your staff for being so helpful and efficient in organising our holiday to the Casa Martinea which was outstanding. We had a fantastic holiday in a lovely setting, and would thoroughly recommend both yourself and Colours of Spain to our friends and family.
Thank you once again. Eddie Fisher
Just a note to thank you for your help and efficiency. We are sorted out with accommodation at Les Ruidecos and are very much looking forward to our break. I have been telling everyone about Colours of Spain!
Many thanks. Laureen Todd
We have just returned from a wonderful week staying at the Casa del Portalon, near Segovia. We just wanted to let anyone thinking of going here, that it is truly the most fabulous house. Having stayed in many, many rental properties in Spain and France, this has to be the most well-equipped, stylish, spacious and user-friendly house we have stayed in - and it really enhanced our enjoyment of our weeks stay. The owner, M. Angeles, has thought of everything; from the colour co-ordinated bales of towels in each bedroom, to providing soap and more than enough toilet paper in each of the 4 bathrooms (things you just don't want to have to go out and buy on holiday!), to organising for us to pick up half a roasted lamb for our Sunday lunch from the local village and a Paella the next day, to the delicious home-baked biscuits on our arrival. M. Angeles could not have done more for us. The house is set in a wonderfully quite hamlet in real rural Spain, but yet on your doorstep is a plethora of interesting and beautiful places to visit, all within easy drives - the longest being one hour to Madrid, 30 minutes to Segovia and Avila and 40 minutes to El Escorial. We highly recommend this property - and this part of Spain, which is little visited by Brits! We will definitely be back! Many thanks again to M. Angeles.

Hi Susana, I have now booked somewhere for the Saturday October 10th in the Trujillo area so we are now all fine. Thank you for all of your help in our other bookings you have been wonderful. Three of our four bookings for our journey through Spain to the south and our return have been through Colours of Spain who we will certainly use again, the service is fantastic and the website is good and easy to use. I was particulalry impressed with the wildlife and bird-watching section which I have not seen in this country - well not as good! Once again my very sincere thanks for your help and advice. If you wish me to complete a 'customer satisfaction' form I am more than willing to do so.
Kind regardsRichardColours of Spain won the DTI ecommerce award for best start up in 2004 (West Midlands).
